The HDI Tree

The HDI Tree is a visual representation of the Human Development Index (HDI) that allows the simultaneous visualization of the Human Development Index and its components. The HDI Tree was created together with Alex Simoes, Isabel Meirelles, Geoffrey House and David Landry.

Rankings

This artwork recycles images created originally for macroeconomic complexity rankings that can be found in their original form in
Hidalgo and Haussman, PNAS (2009) and in Hidalgo, CID Working Paper 189.

 

2008

Trajectories

This artwork was done for Gonzalez MC,CA Hidalgo, A-L Barabasi Nature 2008. It shows the trajectories of thousands of users in the background and the
trajectory of an individual user highlighted on the foreground.

 

Privacy Issues

This artwork was done by using some leftover mobile phone networks in which nodes are people and links are phone calls.
The originalimages were created for Hidalgo, Rodriguez-Sickert, Physica A (2008)

Worms

The following artwork begin from the images published together with Dupuy D. in (2007) Nature Biotechnology.
The original images are chronograms summarizing the temporal and spatial expression patterns in c.elegans.
